Baylake Pines and Baylake Beach

Baylake Pines is a Virginia Beach community rich in history, nestled along the Chesapeake Bay, and consists of over 300 single family homes. Lake Joyce is a fresh water lake within the neighborhood that allows for power water vehicles.  Architectural digs of the area have indicated the original Adam Thoroughgood house was in Baylake Pines, formerly known as Henrytowne. Arrowheads and other remnants of the natives to this area are often found in yards of a neighborhood that is still dominated by original owners or their grown children.  Winding roads and gently rolling hills, Lake Joyce, Treasure Island**, a brackish pond, a saltwater canal, and the Chesapeake Bay provide more water recreation in a neighborhood than anywhere in Virginia Beach.  Every homeowner in Baylake Pines shares a deeded private beach access which includes a maintained and monitored walkway with a bike rack and announcement board.  With Bayville Park across Shore Drive from Baylake Pines, tennis courts, disc-golf course, basketball courts, dog runs, and an extensive playground provide more outdoor recreation at your front door. Bayside Recreation Center, Bayville Golf Course, Taste Unlimited, Leaping Lizard Cafe (of Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives fame), and Bay Lake Retirement Community surround this neighborhood.  Mature pine trees, dogwoods, live oaks, and blooming azaleas enhance the natural setting of the neighborhood.  Some of the best schools in the area surround this neighborhood, including the award-winning Thoroughgood Elementary, and top-rated Cox High School and Great Neck Middle, plus Strattford Private School.   An active civic league and neighborhood watch program work together to provide residents with security, open communication, and great neighborhood events.  NATO families are welcomed into this neighborhood with an annual "Heritage Night."  A beach picnic, professional 4th of July fireworks and parade, holiday home decorating contests, and neighborhood yard sale are some of the other popular annual events. Morning strolls, frolicking dogs, and free sunsets on the private beach are favorite events for residents of Baylake Pines and Baylake Beach!
